JANUARY 2019

2019 has finally arrived and this month we celebrate 5 years of serving here in Mexico! We are so joyful for all that God has done these wonderful years. I do apologize for not writing updates for the past few months, but I would like to catch you up on some things that happened last year

Blake:

As many of you know last year I was praying about starting school in the Pastorship Training program here in La Paz. Well, in September of 2018 I began school. It has been such an amazing blessing to be able study the word of God, and I have learned so much.

Part of this program is that we get to do a Biblical Analysis. We go through every book of the bible and write a paragraph analysis for every major character, place, and event in the book. This is extremely time consuming and difficult, but I have personally seen what a huge blessing it is to dig through and study deeply in the scriptures. Through this schooling I have also felt the calling to one day be a Pastor.
My Wife:

Last August, La Huerta School of Missions and Pastoral had lost some funding and they had to let go of all of the paid staff. This included my wife Luisa. At first this was a great trial for us financially, as this was going to cut our income in half. But we realized that we were in the hands of the Lord. We had seen how the Lord had provided for us over the past 4 years, and we knew that we would be okay.

“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matt. 6:26

After my wife was let go, she was given a severance payment. She had always desired to learn to be a hair stylist and we decided it would be a good opportunity for her to learn a trade.

So in September, she started school. She has loved it so much and we are so blessed we can both be studying something that we love.

Calvary Chapel La Paz:

The past two Saturdays, our church was extremely blessed to receive boxes from Samaritan Purse, Operation Christmas Child.

We held two events. One at our church building, and another out in an extremely poor neighborhood in La Paz. Our church gave out over 200 boxes to kids in need and preached the gospel to them.

On Saturday evenings I've also had the privilege of teaching a Bible college class to the congregants of the church. My classmate Ezekiel and I are teaching a course about Personal Spiritual Life. We have about 10 students that are excited to mature in the Lord.

Thank you to those that keep us in your prayers! We love you all and hope to see you soon!
